Our trip started on Suncay afternoon on Sand Spring. Since my camera wasn't working these are Ed's pics and that's me on the creek.
It's odd to see me in the photos since I'm usually the one taking the pics but here I am again landing a stocker in Sand Spring.
And, yes, I did land the fish. It was obvious from the damage on its mouth that it was caught before. Looks like it was injured by a treble hook. Can you say…
The following morning (Monday) we stopped to check the tailwater at Beltzville. No fish raising and Ed wasn't too comfortable with the bigger water so we went…
SawMill is a really nice stream with a healthy population of streambred browns. Although pretty, these falls did not produce fish.
But, the run below the falls did. Both Ed and I caught fish in this run.
This was the average size fish we were getting. Probably around 6 inches but for a small streem they were nice.
This run below the falls also produced a couple.
Most of the fish looked really healthy and we didn't see another fisherman on the stream. Generally, hikers and dog walkers use the well worn path that runs…
Better shot of the man made dam on Sawmill. Couple of foundations and other signs of human construction lead me to believe this area was once involved in the…
Another shot of the dam.
The following morning we stopped at the Lehigh. No activity here. Again, big water and with no rising fish we didn't stay long.
Another shot of the Lehigh. This was at Lehigh Tannery. Couple of fishermen on the stream in the middle of the pic. Saw them catch one small fish.
Again at the Lehigh at the Tannery. Will have to return to this spot during a hatch.
It is a beautiful river and cold water releases from Francis E. Walter Dam seem to help the trout a good bit.
With nothing happening on the Lehigh we went to Fourth Run. Just a sip of a stream but it holds brookies. Sometimes it is deeper than it is wide.
I was working a fish in a small pool when these pic were taken. I must have pestered that fish for almost an hour before I finally caught it.
No casting room in this stream. Just kinda poke the rod over the water and dabble.
These are truly wild trout and a low profile is necessary of you are to avoid spooking the fish.
I was happy to have caught this fish. It's not numbers anymore, it's the accomplishment and the experience.
